Infant Program

A gentle first step into the world beyond home

At Guiding Minds Montessori, we know that a child’s first experience away from home sets the tone for their love of learning. Our Infant Program is designed to be a natural extension of the comfort and security they know, while introducing them to new sights, sounds, and experiences in a calm, caring environment.

A Gentle Start

We use a gradual phase-in program to help each child — and parent — feel confident and secure

  • Short visits to start, slowly building up time

  • Flexible pace based on your child’s comfort

  • Daily updates through Brightwheel so you know how they’re doing

  • Open communication with families every step of the way

This isn’t a “drop off and go” program — we work hand-in-hand with you to ensure your child’s first steps into a classroom are positive ones.

Our Classroom

Infants are part of Classroom 1, alongside a small group of toddlers, with a ratio of 4 infants to 1 teacher (up to 14 children total in the room).

The space is:

  • Calm, cozy, and child-centered

  • Equipped with child-sized furniture and developmentally appropriate materials

  • Designed for safe exploration at their own pace

  • Filled with warm, caring teacher guides who know every child personally

Meeting Each Child’s Needs

We take the time to understand your child’s unique comforts and routines

  • Favorite soothers, stuffies, or comfort clothing are always welcome

  • Gentle guidance through early exploration of colors, textures, music, and movement

  • One-on-one attention for language-building, fine motor skills, and social interaction

  • Encouragement to explore independently while always feeling supported

Early Montessori Foundations

Even at this young age, children are introduced to foundational Montessori concepts

  • Tracing shapes like circles with their fingers

  • Beginning color recognition (starting with three basic colors)

  • Exploring textures — soft, rough, smooth

  • Engaging in early practical life skills through guided activities

  • Learning through music, calendars, and movement

Extra Enrichment

Infants also enjoy special activities throughout the week
