Guiding Minds Montessori is a licensed Montessori school and kindergarten in Headingley, Manitoba, serving children from 18 months to 6 years. Our AMI/AMS-certified guides work in prepared, mixed-age classrooms where children learn through hands-on materials, real responsibility and respect for their own pace. We are located at Unit 8 – 4945 Portage Avenue, a short drive from Charleswood, St. James, Assiniboia and west Winnipeg, and welcome families from across Headingley and the surrounding communities.

INFANT PROGRAM
(AGES 18 MONTHS TO UNDER 2 YEARS)
A gentle first step away from home. Our Infant Program offers a gradual phase-in process and a warm, nurturing Montessori environment for our youngest learners in Headingley.
Space is intentionally limited to up to 4 infants, ensuring every child receives the individual attention and care they need in a small, calm setting alongside toddlers.
TODDLER PROGRAM
(AGES 2 TO UNDER 3 YEARS)
Hands-on Montessori learning that builds confidence, independence, and joy in discovery. Our Toddler Program welcomes up to 10 toddlers in a warm, welcoming environment where children explore freely and safely.
Families moving up from our Infant Program are guaranteed a spot, making the transition smooth and familiar for both child and parent.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
(AGES 3 TO 5 YEARS)
Developing academic foundations and essential life skills in a vibrant mixed-age Montessori classroom. Our Preschool Program serves up to 24 children in a purposeful, child-led environment where curiosity, independence, and a genuine love of learning are nurtured every single day. Practical life, sensorial exploration, language, mathematics, and cultural studies all come to life through authentic Montessori materials and certified Montessori guides.
KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
(AGES 5 TO 6 YEARS)
The final and most powerful year of the Montessori early childhood cycle. Our Kindergarten Program prepares children in Headingley for Grade 1 and beyond — developing leadership, mastery, and the confidence that comes from completing the full Montessori journey. Up to 24 children thrive in a vibrant, purposeful classroom alongside their preschool peers in our mixed-age Montessori environment.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
(INFANTS THROUGH SCHOOL AGE)
For many Headingley families the school day starts earlier or ends later than classroom hours. Our Before and After School Care program offers a safe, supportive space where children can start their day calmly and end it among friends. Available for infants through school-age children, with transportation available for select local schools.
SUMMER CAMP
(8 weeks)
Summer should be full of adventure, creativity, and play. Our Headingley Summer Camp offers 8 weeks of outdoor fun, water play, crafts, special guests, and hands-on Montessori inspired projects that spark curiosity and keep children engaged all summer long. Current Guiding Minds families have priority registration, with limited spots open to the wider community for children aged 4 and up.

What ages do you accept?
Infant, Toddler, Preschool and Kindergarten
We welcome children from 18 months to 6 years across our Infant, Toddler, Preschool and Kindergarten programs. Before- and after-school care is also available for school-age children up to age 10, with transportation for select local schools.
How much does Montessori cost in Headingley?

Our full fee schedule for every program and schedule option is published on our Admissions page. Fees are billed monthly, with 5-day, 4-day and 3-day options, and there are no hidden costs. A one-time registration and program fee secures your child's placement.
Do you offer part-time care?
5-day, 4-day and 3-day schedules
Yes. Most programs offer 5-day (Monday to Friday), 4-day (Monday to Thursday) or 3-day (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) schedules, and Kindergarten also has an alternating-day option. Early-morning care from 6:45 a.m. and after-school care until 5:30 p.m. can be added to any schedule.
Is there a waitlist, and can we tour first?
Spots are limited – register early
Yes on both counts. Spots fill quickly, so we encourage Headingley families to join the waitlist early; current families and siblings receive priority for the next program up. Before enrolling, book a tour to see the classrooms, meet our guides and ask your questions in person.
