Our Kindergarten Program is for children aged 5 to 6 years in Headingley and Winnipeg, MB — the exciting final year in our Montessori 3 to 6 cycle. Kindergarten at Guiding Minds Montessori takes place in Classroom 3, a vibrant mixed-age Montessori learning environment where older children naturally take on leadership roles alongside their preschool peers. This is authentic Montessori education at its most powerful — the final year of the 3 to 6 cycle where capable, confident learners emerge ready for the next stage of their education.
Kindergarten children at our Headingley Montessori School mentor and guide younger classmates, building empathy, communication, and leadership skills through daily interaction.
They demonstrate and model lessons, deepening their own knowledge and understanding by teaching concepts to younger peers.
They take on more advanced projects and responsibilities, building pride, self-direction, and mastery across all Montessori learning areas.

Located at 4945 Portage Avenue in Headingley, our Montessori School is open for families across Winnipeg, MB and surrounding communities. Registration is open now for full time and part time child care options.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM HOURS AND FEES
Our Kindergarten Program at Guiding Minds Montessori School in Headingley runs Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are open for full time and part time child care enrollment. Extended hours are available through our Before and After School Care program for Winnipeg and Headingley families who need earlier drop off or later pick up to allow for a full day schedule.

Extra Enrichment for Kindergarten Children at Guiding Minds Montessori School
Kindergarten children at Guiding Minds Montessori enjoy special enrichment programs woven purposefully throughout the week — going well beyond what standard Headingley and Winnipeg child care programs offer. Our focus on whole child development means every enrichment activity is open for all Kindergarten children and designed to support physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
Music
Weekly music programming with a qualified teacher supports rhythm, Orff-based musical instruments exploration, language development, and joy. Music is woven into daily circles through singing, dancing, and movement to build vocabulary, knowledge, and curiosity.
Yoga
A qualified children's yoga teacher guides Kindergarten children in gentle movement and body awareness activities that build gross motor skills, self-calming strategies, and physical confidence through natural sequential movement.
Beginner French
Children build on their French language foundation from Preschool, progressing to more advanced vocabulary including colors, numbers, animals, months, and conversational basics — building communication skills, knowledge, and curiosity about the wider world.
Hot Lunch Program
An optional, nourishing food program in partnership with Boston Pizza supports the practical life routines of our Kindergarten learning environment and keeps kids fueled for a full day of Montessori exploration and learning.
