A MESSAGE FROM ANGIE IZZARD, DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER
Hello, I'm Angie.
I founded Guiding Minds Montessori because I believe every child deserves more than care — they deserve a place where they are truly seen, encouraged, and inspired to grow.
When I discovered the Montessori method, I saw firsthand how it could unlock a child's confidence, independence, and love of learning. I knew I wanted to create a space in Headingley where that could happen for every family who walked through our doors.
I am not a director who stays behind a desk. You will find me in the classrooms, connecting with children, supporting our Manitoba Child Care Association certified guides, and making sure our community feels like a home away from home.
At Guiding Minds Montessori, we meet each child where they are, celebrate their unique journey, and grow together as a community. I am honored to walk alongside Headingley families in these important early years.

Facilitate rather than instruct, allowing each child to lead their own discovery.
Serve as a link between the child and the prepared Montessori environment.

Every Guiding Minds Montessori teacher guide is:
Montessori trained with AMI or AMS certification.
Certified as an Early Childhood Educator or Child Care Assistant in Manitoba.
A member of the Manitoba Child Care Association, an organization dedicated to the professional development of Early Childhood Educators across Manitoba.

Hands-On Montessori Learning Across Every Developmental Area
Through a mix of independent work, small group lessons, and practical life activities, children in our Headingley Montessori preschool develop skills across all six Montessori learning areas. Every activity is hands-on, child-led, and based on authentic Montessori education principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.
"Mathematics"
Using hands-on Montessori materials to understand numbers, patterns, and problem-solving. Children develop real math knowledge through concrete manipulation before moving to abstract concepts.

Building vocabulary, phonics, sentences, and early writing skills through language-rich daily interactions, guided exploration, and carefully chosen Montessori materials.

Miss Angie was an outstanding teacher to my son and daughter. She is the most kind, caring, and dedicated teacher, my children became very attached to her and I can see why. Her interaction with the children, staff and parents has been the most positive.
Miss Angie’s teaching style is gentle and caring. She is a real team player and always has the best interests of her students, and the school at heart. The children love “Miss Angie” and could not wait for their hugs and lessons. She genuinely cares about all the children like they were her own.
Watching our children learn and grow at the Montessori with Miss Angie was a very special time and we will cherish those memories forever.

I first met Angie in 2017. My daughter was attending a Montessori school and she was lucky enough to have Ms. Angie as her teacher. It was obvious that Ms. Angie was a big favorite of all the kids at the school. She clearly loves working as a teacher and the children were drawn to her like a magnet! She is an incredibly caring, patient and dedicated to her job. She has qualities required to not only be a business owner and director but also those required to be an excellent teacher. The excitement and passion she has for teaching is obvious and any child attending her school will be provided with an incredible opportunity.

We are so thankful for Ms. Angie and her entire team of teachers. The love and support they have shown my daughter Makena, has really helped her grow and become independent. It is so comforting to know that when we are at work, Makena is being cared for by such a patient, encouraging, and nurturing teacher/Director. It is evident that Ms. Angie truly has a passion for fostering confidence and a sense belonging for every child she cares for as all her students look forward to seeing her everyday.
